About My Angel Art:
Yes, I DO believe in angels! Do I think they look like the ones I paint? I think angels can resemble anything depending on the message
they need to convey. Real angles are messengers. Therefore, they have the ability to appear before us in whatever form necessary in
order for us to pay attention. The Christian bible speaks of angels mostly being in male form or simply visiting our minds or in dreams. And
in a certain passage an angel appears with bronze feet and a golden aura. He has wings and his face is so illuminated, it can't be seen.
Angels have been painted for centuries and the majority of them were depicted as females with wings, wearing white, plain robes. Given
the time period in those eras, this was deemed appropriate by their standards. However, even though painted by the most talented artists,
in my opinion, they seem a bit drab, almost lifeless.
So when I began painting angels, I knew I wanted them to be different and contemporary.
My angels are vivid in color, dress and style. Their body poses and faces tell us that they are very much real, but dare the viewer not to get
too close. They are soft, yet strong willed in a warm, feminine way. My angels say, "Yes, I am here, and though I am real and beautiful,
keep your distance or else I will weaken, because I am only as strong and weak as you are."
It is my hopes that I have been able to convey my own messages through these winged beings and that you, the viewer find them different
and contemporary, yet still be able to grasp a bit of traditionalism in my own style.
